The Farmer’s Daughter 2023 - 2024
Studio - The Sisters Bloom
Role - Model Maker, Puppet fabricator
The Farmer’s Daughter is a short film created by the Montana based studio The Sisters Bloom. The studio pioneers eco-friendly stop motion fabrication methods.
I worked as a model maker and puppet fabricator. I was responsible for all the hero vehicles and farm equipment in the production. To replace the clear plastic normally used for vehicle windshields I invented a biodegradable plastic alternative. I developed puppet faces and headcores with replacement parts and 3D printed them using compostable filament.
Standard materials like glues and styrene needed to be replaced with biodegradable and recyclable alternatives. Absolutely no toxic materials or plastics were allowed. One of my key roles was research and development. I helped to establish a whole new methodology of eco-friendly fabrication for the studio.
